PROPHYLAXIS AND FLUORIDE
 
  • Prophy is a cleaning procedure performed to thoroughly clean the teeth
  • Procedures
    • 1120 (Prophy – child) - report a prophy performed on a patient with all primary dentition or one with primary and permanent dentition
    • 1110 (Prophy – adult) - report a   prophy performed on a patient with all primary dentition or one with primary and permanent dentition

FLUORIDE (D1208)
  • D1208 Any topical application of fluoride including fluoride gels or fluoride foams (excluding fluoride varnish)
  • Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It also reverses early decay.
  • Fluoride treatments in the form of highly concentrated rinse, foam, gel or varnish
