  • Dental codes for build up:
    • D2950 – Build up
    • D2954 – Pre-fab Post and Core
  • A Core Buildup is given for teeth with significant loss of coronal tooth structure due to caries or trauma in which insufficient tooth structure remains to adequately retain an Indirect Restoration
  • It is a restorative procedure where a missing portion of the tooth is restored with a dental filling material in order to support a crown restoration.
  • Core Buildup is not given for the following:
    • As a filler to correct irregularities in preparation
    • As a definitive composite or amalgam restoration
    • For retention of intracoronal restorations
