D2932 - PREFABRICATED RESIN CROWN

WATCH

1. D2932 does not report a custom resin crown. It must be a stock, prefabricated resin crown which is adjusted to fit.

2. Prefabricated resin crowns may be purchased pre-made, or instead milled or 3D printed based on a generic crown form using resin based materials.

COMMENTS

1. D2932 reports a prefabricated resin crown for either a primary or permanent tooth.

2. Enter the tooth number being treated in Box 27 of the 2024 ADA Dental Claim Form.

LIMITATIONS

1. Some payors have a lifetime exclusion if performed on a primary tooth or an age limitation (under thirteen fourteen) if for a permanent tooth.

2. Limitations may not apply when the replacement is a result of an accident or injury.

NARRATIVES

1. An alternate benefit of a stainless steel crown may be reimbursed for D2932. Reimbursement among payors is highly variable for D2932. It is recommended that coverage be verified with the payor prior to rendering treatment. The narrative should outline the conditions that exist to justify the placement of a prefabricated crown along with an estimate of the period of the crown's use.

2. The narrative should clearly describe any accident and/or injury involving the tooth treated with the prefabricated resin crown D2932.
